Meet the Maker of Clove Remade Upcycled Vintage Fashion

My passion for sewing began in Ballarat, Victoria when my daughter needed a library bag for school. What began as a bit of fun has turned into a lot of fun as I endeavour to 'live my dream' and sew for a living.

I've always had a love for all things vintage. I've consistently filled my house with vintage pieces and had a huge collection of vintage fabrics, tea towels, table cloths, embroidered linen and woollen blankets well before I was even sewing with them.

Five years ago my sister moved to Eumundi, Queensland. This was the catalyst that propelled me into full time sewing. She was right on the doorstep of the renowned Eumundi Markets — it was too good an opportunity to pass up. But, what to make? The idea of sewing vintage woollen blankets had always been in the back of my mind, and now it was time.

I started making tote bags, messenger bags, hot water bottle covers, hats and then jackets and dog coast using vintage blankets. Over Victoria's freezing winter I would travel up to Queensland and spend three months sewing and selling at the Markets.

I loved it so much and just knew it was exactly what I wanted to do — not only sew and create but also to live on the Sunshine Coast. It took me another five years to line everything up and make my dream a reality.

To live in the Sunshine Coast permanently I needed to make the move away from warm winter woollens. I obviously wanted to stay with upcycling and vintage fabrics so I broke out my collection of vintage fabrics, tea towels, tablecloths, doilies and embroidered linen - soon my summer range was born!

It brings me so much joy to be creating these one off pieces. I personally love the uniqueness of each creation — I find the fabrics truly beautiful and I very much hope you do as well.
